Last month we witnessed Worcester, Bosch Group host its annual Environmental 2020 Awards, where the manufacturer acknowledged those who have made an impressive commitment to tackling climate change through the use of high-efficiency heating technologies.
Now in its 14th year, the Environment 2020 Awards continues to highlight best practice from those installers who actively make strides to conserve the environment and enhance the environmental credentials of domestic properties. This year saw installers and three specifiers from across the country rewarded for their work to improving the UK’s carbon emissions at a ceremony held at Worcester, Bosch Group Headquarters in Worcester.
With well over 100 installers and specifiers having submitted entries for this year’s awards, along with plenty of entries for the children’s art and photography competition, Worcester judges faced the task of selecting the overall winner for each of the ten categories.
The winners of each category, who received their prize from the event’s special guest, Mike Foster, chef executive, Energy and Utilities Alliance, (EUA) are detailed below:
- Greenstar gas-fired boiler installation: Darran Grant – Darran Grant Plumbing and Heating, Cardiff
- Greenstar oil-fired boiler installation: Mike Sellwood – M Sellwood Plumbing and Heating, Swindon
- Greenskies solar water heating installation: Richard Smith – Smiths Heating Services, High Wycombe

Worcester’s Environment 2020 Awards, which were first launched in 1999, also reward the artistic efforts of young people up to the age of 16, who have created outstanding artwork inspired by energy efficiency and climate change.
Six year old Advaidah Menon, from Newcastle, ten year old Kyan Hoque from London and twelve year old Emily Loraine from Kent were each presented with £500 of shopping and leisure vouchers for their efforts.
Carl Arntzen, Worcester’s managing director, said:
“All of the winners are fully deserving of the awards. Every year the calibre of entries is improving and this year was no exception, in fact it was one of the hardest judging processes to date. Every entry has been extremely innovative and well considered, providing a bespoke solution to meet the homeowner or tenant requirements.
“By hosting our Environment 2020 Awards annually we hope to demonstrate a shared passion for energy efficiency and highlight those installations which have made a commitment to protecting the planet. The artwork category allows us the chance to see how the younger generations regard the environment through their inspirational and thought provoking pieces of art.
“Our Environment 2020 Awards have been a huge success since we introduced them back in 1999 and we are already looking forward to seeing more examples of excellent installation and specification work when we begin judging entries next year.”
