The KBSA has announced the winners of its 2014 KBSA Designer Awards, an annual competition for members of the trade association.
Diane Berry of Diane Berry Kitchens, last year’s winner of kitchen designer category, successfully defended her title by winning the award again this year. The judges said of Diane’s winning entry:
“A kitchen is very challenging as there are so many elements to be considered – and Diane’s winning design stands head and shoulders above the others”.
The winner of the bathroom category was Barry Lavin, Director of Denby Kitchen Company. The judges said: of Barry’s winning entry:
“It displayed beautiful workmanship and a brilliant interpretation of the client’s brief and further, the bathroom would be a real pleasure to use.”
The winner of the kitchen concept category was Karen MacArthur from Kitchens International in Edinburgh, seen here receiving her award from Richard Turner the CEO of ArtiCad (left) and David Dalglish the national chair of the KBSA. The judges commented that Karen’s was an excellent design they rated highly, and noted the mirror splashbacks as an unusual feature. Using a mix of mid and tall units was not intimidating, but allowed Karen the opportunity to express her design skills to the full.
The Kitchen Concept Award is the first of its kind in the KBSA’s awards, says the Association, as all entrants create their design from a common brief which allows the judges to judge from a level playing field. This award is open to all KBSA designers.
