The savings achieved by the Travis Perkins Group have been made by simple segregation of cardboard, plastic, timber, and other materials held at branches. The Environment Improvement Scheme has seen all cardboard, from old packaging to advertising displays, collected from branches and sent for reprocessing. Confidential papers are even pulped and turned into pin boards which are then sold at Travis Perkins, saving the company £50,000 in shredding costs per annum. Even plastic pallet wrapping, banding, and bulk bags are recycled and reprocessed where possible.
