New Manifold System Introducecs Cutting-Edge Features

Danfoss’ new FHF-F manifold system incorporates additional features that introduce a far higher level of functionality than most previous solutions.

The Danfoss FHF-F is used for controlling water flow in underfloor heating systems. Each pipe in the floor heated system is connected to the manifold, making it possible to individually control water flow or heat supply to each room in the building.

The FHF-F, in common with its now obsolete CDF predecessor, employs established and well-proven Danfoss valve inserts to regulate the flow to each circuit, thus assuring continued high performance and dependability. After this, the specification broadens to include a number of innovations.

Each FHF-F unit, size 1”, comprises a supply and a return manifold with connections for a minimum of 2 or up to as many as 12 heating circuits. The supply manifold allows for any of the circuits to be completely shut off and includes an individual flow meter (sight-glass type) for each. This makes it easy to balance the total underfloor system by providing an instantly visible reading of the water flow in each circuit at any given time.

The return manifold is equipped with Danfoss integrated valves with a simple, effective pre-setting facility, allowing optimal hydraulic balancing and easy commissioning of the underfloor system. Pre-setting can be carried out quickly without the need for any tools. Once the thermal actuator is mounted, presetting is automatically protected and can only be altered by removing the actuator.

Each heating circuit is controlled by Danfoss TWA thermal actuators. These are available in Normally Closed (NC) or Normally Open (NO) modes and as either 24V or 230V units.

Connections between the manifold and the underfloor heating pipework are made readily by using standard Danfoss ¾” internal threaded compression fittings for PEX, AluPEX or copper pipes.

Ball valves are available as an option for providing positive shut-off between the manifold and the system. Manifold end pieces are supplied with manual air vents; automatic air vents are available as an option.

A full range of accessories, parts and spares for the FHF-F is available including mounting brackets, end sections with drain taps, automatic air vents, ball valves, thermometers and reduction pieces. All FHF-F products plus supplies of sales literature are available with immediate effect.

Technical parameters for the FHF-F are:

• Maximum differential pressure: 0.6 bar
• Maximum working pressure: Manifold with flow meter – 6 bar
• Maximum test pressure: Manifold with flow meter – 10 bar
• Maximum flow temperature: 90°C

About Siemens

Siemens AG (Berlin and Munich) is a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical
engineering, operating in the industry, energy and Siemens domestic controls .

For over 160 years, Siemens has stood for technological excellence, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality. The company is one of the world’s largest providers of ecofriendly technologies, generating about €28 billion – more than one-third of its total revenue – with green products and solutions. In fiscal 2010, which ended on September 30, 2010, revenue totaled some €76 billion and net income €4.1 billion. At the end of September.

Siemens innovations – Highlights

1. World’s most powerful and ecofriendly gas turbines
In the U.S., we’ve successfully launched our latest generation of gas turbines, which achieve a record-setting efficiency of slightly over 60 percent when coupled with steam turbines.
This new technology will enable Florida Power & Light to reduce fuel consumption at two of its power plants by one-third and cut CO2 emissions to less than half their current levels.
The U.S. utility will also save about $1 billion in operating, maintenance and investment costs over the turbines’ complete lifecycle.

2. Wind turbines from a single cast
Having installed over 9,000 wind turbines worldwide, we’re the market leader in offshore wind power. With a total output of over 11,500 megawatts – of which 1,400 are generated at
16 offshore projects – these turbines are reducing CO2 emissions by a total of 27 million tons a year. Produced in a single cast and without seams using a patented integral technique, the turbines’ blades can withstand wind and weather for more than 20 years, even when located on the high seas.

3. Solar power plants – Heating Solar Panels
We’re a single-source supplier of all key components for parabolic trough power plant construction and the global market leader in steam turbine generators for solar-thermal power plants. Our offerings include innovative, tried-and-tested large-scale photovoltaic systems as well as services, monitoring and maintenance for solar power systems.

4. Electricity highways
The world’s first high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission system to transport electricity at a voltage of 800 kilovolts
is now linking hydropower plants in China’s Yunnan Province with the megacities of the Pearl River Delta. HVDC technology ensures that transmission losses along the more than 1,400-kilometer route are extremely low – in fact, about 50 percent lower than those of comparable alternating-current systems.

5. World’s brightest light-emitting diodes
OSRAM’s light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are among the worlds brightest and most efficient, slashing energy consumption more than 80 percent compared to conventional light bulbs and lasting between 20 and 50 times longer. LEDs are already used in a wide array of applications – in everything from automobile headlights to building illumination. For example, more than 12,000 high-performance OSRAM LEDs now light up the arch spanning the new stadium in Durban, South
Africa. OSRAM is also a technology leader in innovative organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) – surface-emitting luminaires that are extremely thin and efficient.

6. Building systems with guaranteed energy savings – Siemens Building Technologies Ltd
Buildings consume about 40 percent of the world’s energy and – due to their heat and power requirements – account for some 21 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. But significant savings can be achieved through targeted measures.
That’s why we’ve introduced energy-saving performance contracting (ESPC). Combining consulting, installation and financing,
ESPC requires no upfront investments: costs are amortized within a contractually specified time through energy savings. To date, we’ve implemented 1,900 ESPC projects worldwide, generating guaranteed energy savings of €2 billion.

7. Maximum rail efficiency
Reaching speeds of up to 350 kilometers an hour, Siemens’ Velaro is one of the world’s fastest and most efficient trains in series production, consuming only about 0.33 liters of fuel per 100 passenger-kilometers. Velaro trains are already operating successfully in China, Russia and Spain. In Germany, we’ll be delivering Velaro D supertrains to rail operator Deutsche Bahn at the end of 2011.

Danfoss – Providing a better solution

When a giant Asian based manufacturer discovered a problem with their pressure transmitters, Danfoss proved to be effective not only meeting their tight supply needs, but also helping to reduce their maintenance costs.
After experiencing the quality and reliability of the MBS1250, the customer is now in discussions regarding applications for the MBS1350.

Danfoss is well known in the Marine and Mobile Hydraulic sector globally, and has enjoyed a successful working relationship with the marine division of a giant manufacturer. When that manufacturer’s construction equipment division began to experience quality issues with their supplier, they once again turned to Danfoss.

The customer, a major force in the global mobile hydraulics industry, discovered that pressure transmitters from its current supplier were susceptible to water penetration in the sensor body. The weak connection between the cable connector and the sensor body was allowing leakage to destroy the electric board, and the product was also unable to deliver enough torque for their application.

The manufacturer looked at three different companies – including their long-time marine division supplier, Danfoss – to explore replacement options. Danfoss was able to quickly meet the customer’s tight delivery requirement with the highest quality pressure transmitter; when the testing phase was complete, the MBS1250 from Danfoss turned out to be the optimal solution.

The compact, heavy duty, MBS1250 pressure transmitter is designed for use in severe mobile hydraulic applications. The MBS1250 was the best option for the customer as its body molding provides superior water protection. The single, stainless steel body also allows for a higher fastening and mounting torque than the customer’s previous, welded pressure port sensors, and the MBS1250 is significantly lighter, reducing overall system weight and stress.

In keeping with industry demand, Danfoss MBS 1250 is designed to allow for better equipment monitoring from the operator’s controls; operators can easily see the status of the equipment through the sensor display. The MBS1250 also lights the brake and changes the mode to idle while the excavator is not in operation. This has the invaluable benefit of saving Danfoss customers energy and oil.

EuroStar delivers an ‘A’ class performance.

TR Engineering has announced that it is to launch a super quiet range of high efficiency boilers utilising specially matched ‘Riello’ burners.
Offering excellent efficiencies in excess of 90%, rated to SEDBUK A, and simply named ‘EuroStar’. The range has been specifically designed to achieve optimum high efficiency and superb performance whilst withstanding the coldest of temperatures.
EuroStar encompasses internal kitchen/utility models, ranging in output from 14.6kW – 70kW. External and wall mounted variants are also available and a combination version will be launched early 2011.
Servicing is facilitated via a panel on the front of all models. The baffle system and secondary heat exchanger, cools emissions so that latent heat, usually lost through the flue, is returned to the system to enhance performance while reducing CO2 and NOx emissions.
The system model is complete with circulating pump, safety valve, automatic air vent, pressure gauge and expansion vessel. A combined secondary heat exchanger means there is no need for water seals or pipes necessary to connect two heat exchangers.
Built-in pre-plumbing and electric’s help to overcome concerns about installation and maintenance, both of which are quick and easy with these models. Accessories include 600mm and 1000mm balanced flue kit options that allow for most wall thicknesses.
Peter Beighton ‘Director’ explains, “This is one of the quietest, oil ranges I have witnessed in operation and we are extremely pleased with the results. Our relationship with ‘Riello’ has secured a superb combination of quality in production of the range along with optimum performance of the burner, and is a challenging alternative to other oil ranges on the market”
High efficiency (Band A) boilers can save customers up to 20% annually on their heating and hot water bills as against standard-efficiency alternatives, and up to 30% against domestic boilers installed over ten years ago. Put another way, the payback time on the moderate extra cost of the new condensing models, which are competitively priced, can be under two years.

A comprehensive warranty of two-years as well as five-years cover on the heat exchanger is offered.

About Trianco

TR Engineering prides itself on offering one of the most comprehensive ranges of heating products available on the market today.
Under the renowned Trianco brand, the product portfolio consists of Trianco Oil boilers, Aztec Electric boilers and Solid Fuel boilers, aswell as a range of renewable products.
The company also offers a variety of engineering solutions using the latest machinery technology, ranging from general fabrication work to oil and diesel tank production
TR Engineering Limited acquired the assets from former company Trianco Heating Products in August 2010. The company’s aim is to continue to promote the renowned brand name Trianco and the product ranges associated. Trianco’s history and pedigree can be traced back to the 1850s when Newton Chambers first made coal fire ranges at Thorncliffe in Sheffield under the name of Redfyre. Fireplaces, back boilers and free standing heating stoves followed and, in 1873, the company was awarded the royal warrant to Queen Victoria. The 1940s and 50s saw the company pioneer domestic oil fired boilers and it was probably the first with an oil combi. In the early 1970s they acquired Trianco Stewart, a small oil boiler manufacturer, and thus Trianco Redfyre was born.
