Dimplex Langbrook – Approved for Wood Burning

Approved for Wood Burning The Dimplex Langbrook multi-fuel stove has been
awarded smoke-exempt
status, this means that the stove is approved for wood
burning
in Smoke Control Areas throughout the UK

LBK5 Langbrook Solid Fuel Stove Room Shot

In certain urban parts in the UK, homeowners wishing to install a solid fuel stove may be allowed to do so if they live within a ‘Smoke Control Area’ which if in the correct area, may be listed and approved by their local councils, they will be able to use an authorised smokeless fuel or an exempt appliance for wood burning.

After being successful in rigorous testing routines to ensure that the appliance burns clearly within the ‘Clean Air Act’, the 5kW Langbrook stove was awarded exemption – and renamed Langbrook SE (smoke exemption).

Langbrook SE combines the proportions of a traditional stove with the detail of a contemporary design, which makes it suitable for almost all interior styles. This is approved for wood burning and for non-wood fuels such as smokeless coal, it is larger than the average 5kW stove to give a strong presence in any room, without overheating.

Matt Kisler, product manager for solid fuel stoves at Dimplex had this to say:

“The Langbrook has proved itself a winner with retailers and consumers alike and this new approval broadens its appeal still further. The Langbrook SE been through stringent testing to ensure that it emits less particle matter than the maximum allowed by the Clean Air Act when burning wood and it has more than stood up to the test. The addition of smoke-exempt status, together with the strength of the Dimplex brand, a ten year warranty and a strong network of local stockists across the UK, ensures the Langbrook is a trusted product which looks great in any home.”

VP101 Ball Valve Now Available

V101forblogJohnson Controls announce the release of the VP1000 Ball Valves DN4O, DN5O and DN65 High Flow Rate, and we now have it available in stock, ready to be ordered by you today.

VP1000 Pressure Independent Control Valve is a combination of a differential pressure regulator and a regulating ball valve for flow adjustment. The use of a motorized control valve that automatically limits the flow rate, ensures stable energy supply, independently from the available pressures and, at the same time, thanks to the possibility of controlling the position of the characterized ball valve.

The VP1000 Pressure Independent Control Valves offer great advantages compared to conventional valves:

  • Easy Valve selection since Kvs and authority calculation is not necessary.
  • Simplified commissioning and balancing.
  • Flow rate adjustment without disassembling the actuators.
  • Reduced installation cost.

The use of a motorized control valve that automatically limits the flow rate which allows efficient load in all units such as:

  • Air-Handling Units
  • Radiant Panels and Radiators
  • Heater Batteries
  • Heat recovery Units
  • Chiller units
and generally everywhere else you need to have a perfect water flow control.

How it Works
VP1000 Ball Valves are made by four main parts:
1. Differential pressure regulator
2. Regulating ball valve for flow adjustment
3. Flow adjustment knob
4. Manual Shut off

National Plumbing Assurance Introduced

The official launch of WaterSafe will be the UK’s first all industry national plumbing assurance scheme to set new standards within the UK plumbing sector.

logo1-227x209

Constituting the first plumbing body of its kind in the UK, WaterSafe is a new dedicated online search feature. The assurance scheme is designed to provide recognition for competent plumbers, this will protect consumers when seeking water supply plumbing work which will contribute to the safety of drinking water supplies for homes and businesses.

The scheme will bring seven existing Approved Contractors’ Schemes operating in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This has approval from all the water companies and key plumbing bodies in the UK.

The scheme will include recognised plumbers which are employed by an approved business on the WaterSafe register and will need to have successfully competed an NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering Services (plumbing) (6089), as a minimum. They will also need to have a water industry recognised Water Fittings Regulations qualification to ensure that they are competent and have relevant knowledge.

The official launch event took place early last month on Tuesday 8 October at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminister, where key stakeholders within the water and plumbing industry come together to receive a sequence of presentations on the launch of WaterSafe. It included speeches from well known supporters such as Andy Foster, operations and policy director at The Trading Standards Institute.

  • Easy Valve selection since Kvs and authority calculation is not necessary
  • Simplified commissioning and balancing
  • Flow rate adjustment without disassembling the actuators
  • Reduced installation cost

Applications

Upcoming Homes Exhibition 2013

homes_image

Homes is the event where you will meet the senior procurement teams and decision makers for products and services in social housing. Homes 2013 will offer all content free of charge in 2013 from high level strategic asset management to best practice retrofit and repairs case studies.

Homes Exhibition will bring the housing sector together to deliver the very latest thinking, practice and policy over two dynamic days of learning, sharing and deal-making. This content-rich experience with educational seminars and multiple networking opportunities will ensure you meet and connect with the people that you want to this November.

Repairs and Maintenance is the single biggest cost in most landlords’ budgets, with spend in the UK currently estimated at around £10 billion a year. In addition, the retrofit challenge is estimated to have the potential to grow into a £12 billion a year market within the next three years.

Smart decisions around asset management, repairs and sustainability strategy and solutions have never been more important to the success of a housing organisation.

Our extensive research with the social housing sector made it clear that there is a need for a large-scale and national housing event which focuses specifically on these critical business areas, and brings together the very best products and services and conference content in one event.

Hear what a leading provider has to say about the importance of Homes to the sector:

This event is vital to all sectors of asset management and stock investment!  This new integrated conference and exhibition in London brings together a wealth of experience from all sectors of housing and offers VFM.  In times of diminishing revenue/capital funds and increased demand, resource allocation becomes even more difficult.  With the wide knowledge and opportunity for networking delegates will be able to see how other providers are further delivering  efficiencies and cost savings whilst generating innovative ideas needed to deliver more with less in a more customer focused way of working.
