Bristan and Sirrus by Gummers have merged to offer merchants, installers and contractors a one-stop-shop for commercial and domestic taps, showers and accessories. From July 1 2011 Sirrus by Gummers commercial products will be rebranded as Bristan, and will be included in the Bristan Product and Price Guide.
Previously a sister brand to Bristan, Sirrus by Gummers has a 140-year history of supplying quality, rigorously tested taps, showers and water controls to the commercial market. The integration of the range into the Bristan brand gives merchants one point of contact for the ordering and delivery of commercial and domestic bathroom products, and makes it easier for installers and contractors to source them. The move is part of Bristan’s long-term strategy to increase share in the commercial market.
In addition to extending its Product and Price Guide, Bristan has combined leading products from both brands to create a new tailored collection of taps, showers and accessories for specification in the healthcare, education, leisure and hospitality sectors. The products will be showcased in a manual called Specifier, which will launch in August 2011. It will include comprehensive product information, technical data sheets and detailed guidance on standards and regulations to help make it easy for specifiers to select the right product for the application.
The comprehensive specification product range includes thermostatic mixing valves; capacitance non-touch technologies for infection control; HTM64 basin mixers; timed flow taps and showers; thermostatic showers, basin mixers and bath shower mixers; shower panels, shower kits and accessories; Doc M packs and coordinated tap, shower and accessory collections.
All products are quality tested at every stage of production, and have been designed in conjunction with customers and industry bodies such as the TMVA (Thermostatic Mixing Valve Association). The robust range offers simple installation with technical support if required, coupled with ease of access for service and maintenance.
The product portfolio includes one of the largest ranges of TMV3 approved mixing valves in the UK. The thermostatic mixing valves not only blend water to a safe temperature but will also shut down in the event of hot or cold water failure. Some of the thermostatic mixing valves have retained the Gummers name.
With sustainability and energy efficiency in mind the range also includes water efficient taps and mixers and water economy showerheads. Most products are WRAS approved and the Pulse 8 automatic controls are eligible for BREEAM points.
Alongside the tried and tested range, Bristan will also be investing in new product development that reflects the needs of its customers and the market.
Ian Hansell, general manager, Bristan Trade, said: “Bringing our commercial business into the Bristan brand allows us to offer our merchant and installer customers a complete solution for commercial and domestic bathroom products, all with the backing of next day delivery, exceptional customer service and technical support.
“We believe this is the perfect marriage of two brands, offering both style and substance. We are combining the distinctive style, design, service and trust associated with Bristan with Sirrus by Gummers’ 140-year legacy of engineering excellence, durability and rigorous safety and quality standards; it really is the best of both worlds.
“Established back in 1871, Gummers has a long history and its products were installed in the Ritz, the Strand and on the HMS Ark Royal. We might have changed the brand name to Bristan, but we are committed to keeping its legacy alive, which is why you will find the Gummers name on many of the thermostatic mixing valves in our collection. A new 140-year laurel will appear on all marketing material – offering reassurance to customers who have come to rely on the brand’s rich heritage, reliability and safety.
” To assist customers, a new website – www.specifybristan.com – will be launched in August 2011. It will include useful information such as data sheets and installation instructions, as well as a SpecBuilder app, which allows the user to build specifications from the Bristan range of products. A new specification marketing manager will also be joining the Bristan team and a dedicated specification sales team will create demand among architects and specifiers, helping to pull sales through merchant customers.”
