Baxi challenges consumers to heat homes better

baxihomesBaxi has launched the Hard to Treat Heat campaign to challenge the way we heat our homes and businesses in the UK.

Hard to Treat Heat is centred on finding ways for the millions of non-condensing boilers in British homes to be replaced over the coming years. The campaign works with government and industry to access the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund.

In a recent national survey carried out by Baxi, 76% of respondents admitted that they regularly worry about the cost of heating, with six per cent saying it actually keeps them up at night. Results highlight concerns over heating take lead priority over every other key financial outlay such as the food shop (64%), the cost of fuel for the car (50%) and mortgage payments (17%).

Andrew Keating, marketing director UK and Ireland at BDR Thermea (of which Baxi is a part) said:

“The results of the survey add further amplification to our cause. We already know that there are around ten million inefficient boilers here in the UK and that’s why it is so important that we continue to develop even better products to encourage replacement, but also ensure the correct support mechanisms are in place, to help make it a reality.”

Last month, Baxi welcomed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Energy & Climate Change, Baroness Verma, to its manufacturing facility in Preston to learn more about the campaign.

During the visit, Baroness Verma said:

“Households across the country can save money on bills and stay warmer for less by making energy saving improvements to their homes.

“The Green Deal is among the government’s measures designed to do just that. Seeing Baxi rising to the challenge to tackle Britain’s inefficient boiler stock is very much supported by the government.”
